Our Client Overview:
Our client is a leading company that supplies some of the largest retail groups across Europe, North America, and Asia. Headquartered in Hong Kong, with offices and production facilities throughout China, they specialize in producing a wide range of products, including board games, kids’ action games, battery-operated games, arcade and carnival games, licensed games, tabletop games, sports games, game tables, poker and casino games, and puzzles. As the company continues to grow rapidly, they are seeking talented, innovative, and creative individuals to join their team.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the professionalization of four core areas: Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Audit & Compliance, and New Product Development.
A. Quality Assurance
• Assess operational systems and inspection procedures to ensure high product quality standards and drive sustainable improvements.
• Achieve quality objectives, control non-conformities, and set KPIs to enhance quality levels in line with the company’s strategic goals.
• Ensure all products comply with company requirements, international safety standards (e.g., ASTM F963, EN71, EMC, EN62115, EN60825, CPSIA, RoHS, REACH), and client specifications.
• Coordinate product testing with third-party laboratories, negotiating optimal terms and costs.
• Provide factories with clear guidelines on applicable testing standards, ensuring adherence before sample production.
• Evaluate and approve certificates and laboratory reports.
• Collaborate with labs and factories to resolve issues related to failed tests.
• Develop a report database for internal use across teams.
• Offer guidance to design, merchandising, and factory teams on compliance with relevant testing methods, directives, and laws.
• Attend seminars on updated testing standards, train internal staff, assess impacts on products, and advise relevant teams on necessary adjustments.
B. Quality Control
• Train, manage, and supervise internal QC teams based in mainland China offices.
• Develop and implement procedures to enhance inspection methods and administrative processes.
• Prioritize projects and orders based on risk classification, manage inspection schedules, and track reviews.
• Review incoming inspection reports and make approval or rejection decisions on shipments.
• Lead problem-solving efforts and corrective action plans for failed inspections.
• Work with key factory partners to communicate quality requirements and improve their QC systems.
C. Factory Audit & Compliance
• Identify upcoming audits and coordinate audit schedules.
• Direct internal teams on audit standards, pre-audit improvements, and scheduling to ensure factories are prepared.
• Pre-audit new factories to assess suitability based on ethical and quality management standards.
• Provide management with recommendations on approving or rejecting new suppliers.
• Manage and track ‘Vendor Contracts’ outlining business terms on quality, ethics, etc.
• Arrange audit bookings, follow-up schedules, and post-audit corrective actions (e.g., CAPs).
• Address issues with client QA teams regarding failed audits or scheduling concerns.
D. New Product Development
• Develop and implement procedures for integrating quality checks into new product development, including functionality and durability testing.
• Oversee product development, testing, and inspection protocols for pre-production and pilot production phases.
• Prepare product specifications, including general safety requirements, bill of materials, and inspection checklists.
• Evaluate prototypes and pre-production samples for quality and safety concerns.
• Review packaging and instruction manuals for compliance and approval.
Requirements:
• Degree in Quality Management, Manufacturing Management, Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
• Proven track record in establishing and leading quality programs and procedures, particularly in young companies.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in quality management for consumer products, with a focus on quality assurance.
• Experience managing quality assurance and control teams.
• Strong communication and documentation skills, with fluency in spoken and written English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Exceptional English writing skills are required.
• In-depth knowledge of EU and US toy regulatory standards, testing procedures, and requirements.
• Familiarity with electrical and electronic circuits.
• Experience in factory evaluation, supplier audits, product inspection, and quality/production improvement.
• Must be independent, assertive, proactive, a quick learner, high-energy, and possess strong leadership and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently.
