The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM) is a dedicated museum that showcases the exquisite artefacts from Palace Museum’s collections and collaborates with other museums in research, exhibitions, education and public programmes. The museum comprises 7 800 square metres of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum’s collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilisations.
(This is a fixed-term contract position of 2-year with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.)
You will be responsible for:
• assisting the Deputy Director, Curatorial, Collection and Programming (“DDCC&P") to implement strategic initiatives to support the vibrant development of HKPM in diverse areas, including long-term exhibition programme, research project, and acquisition plan;
• supporting DDCC&P to coordinate project schedules and implement action plans for cross-function initiatives in and beyond the department;
• assisting DDCC&P with communicating with stakeholders, including the Board and other external bodies, in areas such as preparing, editing and proofreading papers, speeches, and presentations;
• supporting DDCC&P in the planning, development, implementation and reinforcement of different work systems and workflows to support the daily operations of the department;
• liaising and collaborating with the departments in WKCDA on authority-wide processes and projects;
• supporting the procurements and operating related systems; and
• performing any ad hoc projects as assigned by the DDCC&P.
You should:
• possess a recognised university degree in Business Administration, or museum studies, art history, history, cultural studies, law, or equivalent;
• Preferably have 5 years of relevant experience in an art, cultural, educational or philanthropic institution or other organisations of similar nature; experience with international organisations is a plus;
• have strong project management skills with meticulous attention to detail;
• have excellent writing and editorial skills in both English and Chinese as well as communication skills;
• Have proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
• Have a strong interest in art and culture, and museum work;
• have the experience in handling budget, procurement and contract management;
• be highly organised, reliable, proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently with problem-solving skills; and
• be a fast learner with good working attitude and able to work cooperatively with others.
