Information Technology Manager (Project Management Office) (23240039)
Considering the number and breadth of new IT initiatives along the digital transformation journey, HKBU Office of Information Technology (ITO) has recently established a Project Management Office (PMO) to provide governance on a wide spectrum of projects being managed or implemented by ITO. The mission of the function is to comprehensively track progress and provide support to key stakeholders across ITO’s portfolio of strategic projects.
Position Highlights:
The position will play a key role in operating, and enhancing ITO’s PMO function, and will:
• Play a key role in establishing ITO’s PMO function; manage, operate, and continuously improve the function on a go-forward basis;
• Report to the Senior Manager, PMO, who leads the entire PMO organisation including PMO consultants from external parties;
• Lead or oversight the entire life cycle of software development projects, infrastructure projects, including project management, customer analysis, business requirements collection, functional requirements specification, system design review, test approach & planning review, deployment preparation, rollout execution, and post implementation review and contract management; and
• Report to ITO colleagues and senior management on project progress, risks, issues, and provide resolution to anything that requires management attention.
Responsibilities:
• Track progress across the full portfolio of ITO strategic initiatives and projects;
• Communicate regularly with initiative leaders to ensure that developments are recorded, and any challenges or obstacles are quickly identified;
• Produce recurring PMO reporting for a range of senior stakeholders including the Director of IT, Department Heads as required;
• Maintain a holistic view of initiative progress across all areas within the context of ITO’s strategic plan and priorities;
• Provide project support to initiative leaders in areas including work planning, KPI targeting, and general project management; and
• Maintain alignment and synchronisation with ITO function such that relevant PMO reporting is seamlessly reflected in monthly reporting.
Requirements:
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related is preferred;
• PMP / Agile cert holder is preferred;
• At least 7 years of PMO and/or project management experience;
• Proficient in SDLC project management execution and business analysis experience;
• Ability to manage a complex project of his/her own;
• Experience in maintaining PMO-related capabilities and processes;
• Ideally, possess experience in managing mobile app development projects, enterprise software development projects, or projects with significant IoT elements; and
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage.
The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review and mutual agreement.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
