Assistant Manager, Database and System

The Assistant Manager, Database and System is responsible for providing support and assistance in managing various aspects of IT technology and services. This includes assisting in the operation and development of enterprise IT solution, ensuring adherence to standard technical and security guidelines. The role also entails managing the on-premises and cloud infrastructure, which may involve overseeing virtual machines, databases, storage management across different service models like on-premises, IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. You will be responsible for: overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of databases, servers, operating system, and software applications; providing support for operating system including Windows and Linux, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing usage; ensuring system performance, reliability, and security by conducting regular audits and updates; collaborating with vendors, external service providers and other internal IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, escalating unresolved issues as necessary; keeping an emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, recommending innovative solutions to enhance user experience and productivity; handling the management of IT procurement documents, including preparing approval paperwork and specifying requirements; and taking proactive measures to manage the service, hardware, and software inventory, ensuring timely identification and resolution of end-of-life or end-of-support issues. You should: possess a recognised university degree in computer science, information technology, or a relevant discipline; or an equivalent qualification; have minimum of 5 years of experience in operating, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level systems including databases, operating systems and infrastructure; have experience with databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server, AWS RDS and Azure SQL Database; have a proven track record of administering and supporting both AWS and Azure cloud platforms is an advantage; possess Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert is an advantage; be familiar with system management tools, such as SCCM and Altiris; possess Red Hat® Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Azure Administrator Associate certification or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate certification is an advantage; and have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese.
