Overview
The role is newly created to bridge the gap between software development and IT operations, embodying the principles of collaboration, automation, and integration to streamline the software delivery process for MUFG Retirement Solutions Hong Kong. This pivotal position oversees diagnosis, resolution, root cause analysis of issues and identify and document problem workarounds and provide support for scheduled release upgrades and deployments. You will also ensure service requests are appropriately actioned according to service levels and performance targets. You will provide technical support to core business application environments to ensure 24x7 availability.
With a strategic mindset, the DevOps Manager aligns technical objectives with business goals, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and innovation. Balancing technical acumen with management skills, this role plays in the transformation of business and operational capabilities, driving the success of the organization in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
You must have previous experience supporting large complex application environments in financial services industry especially working in complex and secured cloud platform like Azure and AWS. Experience supporting multiple Application Servers like JBoss, WebShpere and Weblogic, RDBMS including Oracle and SQL Server and Web Servers is essential.
Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities
Strategic Focus
• Develop and implement a comprehensive DevOps strategy for the Hong Kong, utilizing modern technologies and best practices to automate and optimize software delivery processes
• Identify, collect requirements, develop workflows to automate Application support processes
• Analyse, develop and implement process to secure, reduce downtime and optimise application performance
Operational Management
• Select and integrate appropriate tools and technologies for building and managing CI/CD pipelines, orchestration, and configuration management systems
• Oversee the end-to-end integration of DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, Nexus, Ansible, SonarQube, ELK, Grafana, and Prometheus
• Continuously refine CI/CD processes to optimize build, test, and deployment cycles for efficient software delivery
• Liaise with the appropriate stakeholders across the MUFG Group to support Enterprise business applications and associated integrated system environment solutions
• Troubleshooting, Investigating and resolving technical issues related to IT application systems and interfaces
• Provide IT support to business applications through systems problem solving and maintenance
• Ensure IT Systems stability fixing minor issues within the application development framework
• Work with business users and IT colleagues to ensure timely resolutions are provided to identified issues
• Support application systems as required by business units including installation of software and configuration.
• Provide High Availability management and Disaster Recovery Support
• Completion of regular tasks to support team SLAs
• Manage code release and deployment across multiple platforms when required.
• Support both production and non production environments.
• Develop and Maintain Documentation related to Standard Operations Procedures
• Contribute to improve efficiency of IT Operations process and procedure
• Provide system and environment related KPIs as required
• Ensure that established procedures and standards are adhered to
• Assist to scope system change requirements
• Provide effective support and minimise downtime to the business by liaising with developers, back end support, database administrators and vendors
• Collaborate with other team members to improve the overall performance delivered to customers
• Participate in after hours and weekend support
People Leadership
• Act as the key liaison point between Hong Kong and offshore colleagues in both India and Australia
• Collaborate with Infrastructure and Operations where applicable to implement and co-ordinate efforts to support the Hong Kong business
• Closely work with Client Engagement & Communication Workstream, and Service Acceptance Workstream to provide consulting advice for on technical implications for future project work and operational uplift
Governance & Risk
• Stay updated on new DevOps tools and industry best practices to enhance quality and efficiency, involving some hands-on programming and scripting
• Understand the compliance and regulations from government authorities to ensure these are put into the consideration with governance mechanism
• Maintain Documentation related to Standard Operations Procedures
• Help resolving Information Security Corrective actions
• Raising security issues and breaches to Manager
• Report to Management of any issues that may impact the Business

Experience & Personal Attributes
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Approximately 7 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or Architect, specializing in cloud-native and automation-driven environments
• Knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server RDBMS and SQL problem solving & scripting skills is essential
• Prior experience in Platform Engineer and support of large complex 24x7 application environments
• Availability to work on call after hours and weekend in a rostered 24x7 environment
• Expertise in designing and implementing DevOps frameworks using tools like Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
• Proficiency with deployment tools such as Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and Jenkins
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps principles
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools like Chef, Puppet, or Ansible
• Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Shell, Python, Power Shell, Perl, and Groovy
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of effectively interacting with stakeholders at all levels
Preferred
• Background in financial services and securities industry such as Registry, Broking, Exchange, Superannuation or Trading
• Experience with PEGA application or CRM Dynamics including technical support
• Experience in High Availability and Disaster Recovery Support
• Competency across a blend of operating systems such as Windows and Unix
