Job Description

Support the Project Manager of WENT Landfill for the overall project management responsibility for the execution of the WENT landfill contract in accordance with the requirements of the contract with the Environmental Protection Department of the HKSAR.
• Assist the Project Manager to discharge the full responsibility accountable to the financial performance of the WENT project and support the headquarter with budgetary and other related financial matters, to the detail level that can pick up the position of Project Manager in 1-2 years time;
• Assist the Project Manager on the responsibility for managing a team of departmental managers to ensure each performing in line with the overall objective of the contract., to the learning depth detail that can pick up the position of the Project Manager in 1-2 years time;
• Ensure thorough knowledge and understanding of the contract for the effective execution of the WENT Landfill contract independently in 1-2 years time;
• Take ownership of interfacing and supporting the CAPEX delivery team of the WENTX contract by offering specific project input from WENT;
• Build and maintain good working relationship with the Environmental Protection Department of the government, independent consultant and other business partners;
• Ensure straight compliance to the local safety, health and environmental ordinance and regulations by continuing reviewing the performance and proposing improvement plan;
• Support and implement the Veolia multifaceted purpose in the daily operation;
• Optimise the project margin whilst minimising any risk or exposure to the Company;
• Be able to and well prepared for picking up the position of the Project Manager in 1-2 years time.

Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science or above degree on civil / structural engineering, environmental engineering or related discipline;
• An appropriate engineering qualification or equivalent experience recognised by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers or reciprocal scheme;
• Ability to work on own initiative and stamp authority on projects.

Additional Information

Job Experience/ Knowledge
• Experience in the operation of municipal waste landfill for 8-10 years with at least 3-5 years in the project management position or equivalent civil engineering project;
• Experience on coordinating construction work interfacing with landfilling activity in a seamless manner;
• Knowledge on basic project finance and cash flow management;
• Preference with 5 years or above experience with municipality contract management.

Professional skills
• Landfilling, landfill gas and leachate management and EHS;
• Strong IT skills including in Google and MS Office applications;
• Good organisational and time management skills;
• Self motivated;
• Strong communication skills.

Professional skills
• Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese.
