AWS DevOps Engineer

Description

The Global Cloud Services AWS Platform Team is the central team at HClient which manages the use of Amazon Web Services. We manage the entire AWS estate from provisioning accounts for project teams, creating and maintaining global networking connectivity and DNS resolution, to enabling all the latest services from AWS and enforcing and reporting on compliance across the platform. In order to do our job, we touch every service and every use case for AWS in a global financial institution. We aim to be a centre of excellence and encourage learning and development so that we can be the authority on AWS best practices at HClient

Responsibilities
• Support internal project teams to build safe, reliable and secure systems on AWS
• Create tooling, automation and services that help project teams build things in a secure and efficient way
• Write clear documentation outlining everything that we build, highlighting the key points that can be read by technical and non-technical people
• Represent HClient as Subject Matter Experts for all things AWS
• Provide out of hours support on a rota once you are familiar with the platform and services.

Qualification and Experience Required
• Outgoing strong communicators who love working collaboratively to achieve their objectives
• Engineers who are comfortable providing support to HClient Project teams across a large AWS estate.
• Python and/or javascript developers who love automating solutions
• Broad experience of AWS
• Experience of cloud computing and web based applications
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Practical understanding of DevOps practises and Agile working techniques. 'You build it, you own it, you support it” mentality
• Good understanding of Linux and/or Windows operating systems
• Proficient experience with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, Git, Docker, Nexus, AWS CodeBuild, AWS CodePipelines, etc
• Building stateless infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• Engineers that believe that security is a fundamental aspect of delivering solutions and know what it takes to do so in an AWS context

Preferred Skills and Certifications
• AWS certification(s)
• Linux or Windows certification(s)
• Experience in and/or strong understanding of networking
• Demonstrable enterprise infrastructure delivery success stories
• Good non-functional testing experience
• An understanding of risk management and ensuring compliance against relevant regulatory processes
• Experience working in a highly regulated industry
