Job Position Summary
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a QA Engineer to drive forward new solutions based around our custom in-house PARIS platform and other initiatives
The successful candidate will be responsible for testing all current and future software releases – with focus on developing both manual and automated test capability.
This role is a key part of Fleet’s focus to develop leading digital capability to enhance and improve our platforms deployed on over 500 ships
Co-operating with the Development of Front-end and Back-end Software
Working closely with the development team to test and help improve both front-end and back-end components following industry best-practices and in adherence with architectural principles
Provide workable solutions to issues discovered, that balance the need to meet strategic goals whilst also delivering short-term benefits to meet business objectives
Using methods such as prototyping to identify innovative solutions in line with technology trends to both demonstrate how IT can help solve problems effectively and efficiently
Test current products and identifying deficiencies
Investigate product quality in order to make improvements to achieve better customer satisfaction – using data
Plan, create and manage the overall Quality Planning strategy
Oversee continuous improvement projects
Stakeholder Management & Communication
Working closely with developers, stakeholders and end users to understand user flows and potential vulnerabilities
Communicating clearly and concisely across all levels – facilitating key decisions with developers, and other IT stakeholders in simple terms
Collaborate with the Product Development team to ensure consistent project execution
Identify quality assurance process bottleneck and suggest actions for improvement
Identify key KPI’s for product quality
Team Working & People Management
Providing mentoring and coaching to the development team – sharing experience in quality expertise and best practices and helping the team to overcome hurdles
Working collaboratively with the rest of the IT team members – based onshore and offshore – to ensure that solutions delivered are high-quality and easy-to-support
Job Requirements
3+ years of experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer – covering mobile and web applications
3+ years of experience with a variety of different testing techniques such as UI Testing, Automated Testing, Test Driven Development Strategies and other best practices
3+ years of experience with coding using JAVA and JavaScript
Hands-on experience on both security and performance testing focus
A breadth of exposure in using different software QA tools and processes (open-source or commercial products)
Strong communication skills in both oral and written English
