Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, Chubb Life, the primary responsibility of the Principle Engineer - Data for Chubb Life is to cultivate data engineering skills and adopt new age data tools into Chubb Life to support the fast-growing business and customer needs. Concurrently, success will also be viewed in aligning Chubb Life approaches to Chubb Group’s overall target operating models. As Chubb Life operates an extensive matrix reporting structure, strong influencing skills are critical in ensuring all technology related services and deliverables are executed within business expectations.
You will form strong working partnerships with business and technology leaders, plan and implement data engineering programs, formulate data and analytics strategies for solving business problems.
You will have superb engineering, technical, business and communication skills to be able to work with functional leaders to define and prioritize key data needs and build data products & platforms.
Responsibilities
• Develop the vision for Chubb Life’s data engineering approach and drive the data engineering strategy in tandem with the data transformation program
• Accountable for the data pipelines and data platforms that support the business needs across Chubb Life businesses
• Build a data engineering organization and governance model that is business focused, proactive, and resilient
• Attract, hire, and retain top talent, creating an engineering culture that fosters innovation and collaboration
• Promote data governance and master/reference data management as a strategic discipline
• Implement strategies to monitor the effectiveness of data management
• Be an inspiring engineering leader, mentor, and coach, be an active member of the data leadership team
• Evaluate emerging data technologies and provide thought leadership to determine their business benefit and impact on the future-state data platform
• Manage and drive the relationships between Chubb Life Global and the Global Life teams across geographic locations, establishing the ongoing operating model
• Proactively engage with teams in market and global offices to design and execute on a roadmap for internal, partner, and client data solutions for the business
• Evolve the way the business thinks about the importance of data and show how a robust data strategy can drive substantial value to our customers and clients.
• Work with the Data Delivery functions to form a model that supports delivery at a strategic and tactical level to support speed to market and insights
• Work with Life Head of Data Transformation and the group Data engineering teams closely to achieve the ambitions of Life data

• Subject matter expert contributing to Chubb Life’s business and data strategy, ensuring the data architecture, infrastructure, methodologies, and tools employed are
• best practice and follow established governance processes
Additional Requirements
• At least 15+ years of experience in Software Development and/or Data Engineering Best Practices and development
• University qualification in computer science or equivalent data field qualification
• Proven experience in large multinational financial services industry, and previously held a data engineering leadership role
• In-depth experience in designing and implementing enterprise-wide cloud data and analytics platforms
• Hands-on architecture and delivery experience in large scale, cloud data management solutions
• Hands-on experience architecting and implementing large scale multi discipline master/reference data management, cloud data lake and analytics platforms
• Data technology literate with a detailed understanding of the modem data architectures and data analytics platforms
• Presentation and facilitation and design-thinking skills
• Ability to collaborate and communicate with executive level business leaders
• Insurance business domain, data/content and process understanding
• Knowledge of relational/object modelling, knowledge/graph modelling techniques
• Understanding of metamodels, taxonomies and ontologies
• Ability to assess rapidly changing technologies and apply them to business needs
• Good financial acumen and experience in planning and budgeting
