We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Product Design Engineer to join our team. The primary objective of this role is to transform our robotic finger prototype into a market-ready product and launch it as an educational kit. This position involves working closely across engineering, design, and marketing functions to ensure the successful development and launch of the product.
Product Development: Refine and enhance the existing robotic finger prototype to meet design specifications and market requirements.
Design and Engineering: Conduct detailed design and engineering work, including CAD modeling, prototyping, and testing to ensure the product's functionality, durability, and user-friendliness.
Material Selection: Identify and select appropriate materials for manufacturing the product, balancing cost, quality, and sustainability.
Manufacturing Preparation: Work with manufacturing partners to ensure the product can be produced efficiently and at scale. Prepare detailed technical documentation and production plans.
Educational Content Creation: Develop comprehensive educational materials to accompany the product, including user manuals, instructional videos, and curriculum guides.
Testing and Validation: Conduct rigorous testing and validation to ensure the product meets safety standards and performs as expected in various educational settings.
Project Management: Manage the project timeline to ensure the product is ready for launch within the 6-month timeframe. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to keep the project on track.
Market Launch: Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and execute the product launch. Participate in promotional activities, demos, and events to introduce the product to the target audience.
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Product Design, or a related field.
Experience: Proven experience in product design and development, preferably in robotics or educational products. Experience with taking a product from prototype to market is highly desirable.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD), prototyping, and engineering analysis tools. Strong understanding of materials science and manufacturing processes.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design and manufacturing challenges.
Project Management: Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Experience with project management software is a plus.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create clear and concise technical documentation and educational content.
