Mechanical Design Engineer

Who are we:
The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the RWTH Aachen Campus from Germany join forces to establish the Hong Kong Industrial Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Centre (FLAIR). Located at the Hong Kong Science Park, FLAIR is part of AIR@InnoHK, which is one of the two world-class research clusters being established by InnoHK Clusters of the HKSAR Government, to support Hong Kong in developing into an international innovation & technology hub.
As the sole founder, HKPC will work together with RWTH Aachen Campus, the major collaborator of FLAIR, by bundling their strengths and repertoire of resources in technical expertise, networks, innovation and patents etc. to set up the FLAIR and support its operation.

What you'll do:
• Responsible for the structural design and development of robotic systems, encompassing conceptualization, detailed design, and optimization.
• Select mechanical components, perform calculations, and conduct simulation analyses in accordance with project requirements.
• Develop technical documentation, including design manuals, assembly drawings, and detailed part drawings.
• Engage in the prototyping, testing, and validation processes of projects to address design challenges.
• Monitor the latest design technology trends to continuously refine design methodologies and workflows.
• Handle communications with suppliers to ensure the accurate execution of design specifications.
You'll be a good fit if you have/are:
• A Master's degree or higher in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Over 3 years of experience in mechanical design, demonstrating the capability to independently complete project designs.
• Proficient in industry-standard mechanical design software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Pro/ENGINEER.
• Strong foundation in mechanical principles and mechanics, with knowledge of design manufacturing processes, mechanical structures, and transmission systems.
• Competent in component selection, mechanical calculations, and simulation analysis.
• Exhibits excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Priority will be given to candidates with a background in robotic kinematics and dynamics.
